SUP SUP SUP

So back to the old blog. I figured I would shake this thing off and put some thoughts down.

Thus far, semesters been pretty good...I say "thus far" because it has only began and I know come 3 weeks from now, its probably going to be 10000x more intense. Oh well, Im looking forward to everything we are going to learn and it'll be rad to put everything together for some kick ass sites.

Just thinking of some designs for the skateboard site we are going to be putting together. (Note: I think its mad cool that they are continuing shit from first semester/year).

Here is something I made quick time for a small assignment about 2 weeks ago, and threw it up on some free server space. Yup, I know, I need to get some of my own. I will. THIS WEEK. (ie. note to self)

Forgotton

---- this is the drainage pipe underneath my sink.
Peace
----this a peaceful sequence for me, just cause of all the colors and the neutral tone. I wasnt about to do something typical like leafs or water, I wanted to take a different try on it.

Decay
----these are shavings, all crinkled up. They reflect decay for me just the way they are twisted and shrivled.

Photographs and recreation, T minus a couple of hours! Im assumin my brother took the cam out somewhere but I have this wicked picture im excited to throw up on here! Yay, Ill pop by in here in a little bit :D

Smooth, or at least it was suppose to be. I didnt really notice until now that it didnt scan in nicely at all.Im going to darker it up a bit so you can see what I was trying to portray. It was kind of a peaceful scene, maybe similar to water, if you will. Ill darken it up and see if i can make it come out nicer.

Woven
******** TEXTURE **********

Here are my hand drawn ones of the textures we were recreating. Like I said, my cameras is missin at the momento, but itll be sorted out by the morning. Anywho,

Pitted

Crinkled
Hard

Rough

As you can see, my scanner isnt working all that nicely. Arghh! Hah, i think just myabe next time (Since i was using charcoal pencils, to draw a bit harder so that it will show up more. I like the pitted one the best, cause i think it really brings out the texture and feeling I was trying to get at.

OKKKK so here has been the rundown of my current situation. Ive been called into work CRAZY the last couple days. I told Jo I was going to drop my rollerblade off today but that didnt happen since Ive been doing the 1-9 shifts. As you can see, it is quite late and I was coming on here speficially to upload my sketches/pictures I took. Im going to upload my specific drawings by scanning them in, and then upload the pics tomorrow cause I cant seem to find my camera :( which has really just been lost with all the chaos this week.

SUP!

The end of the semester is finally here :)!

The last couple of days have been one big blur and I cant believe they have gone by as fast as they did. GEEZ! I still need to upload my texture assignment on here, which shall be done tomorrow evening. Andrew said by Thursday, so Im assuming thats okay.Id do it right now, but Im on my way to work in about 15, and my scanner takes a bit sometimes to get going, and since I have about 6 to scan through, I cant do it this momento!

But as usual, it will be up and going...and I think the pictures I took for it were kinda cool :D

I dont know why but my pictures were kind of wonky and didnt upload in the right order but its alright. Here was the final picture of my toy. I dont like his pupils and think I want to repaint them. They donnt look evil enough for my likings.

This was before the meat clever and the face was painted. Looks pretty white!

Heres the front of the final piece. I havent decided if Im going to color that middle ball. I think Im going to!!

Side view!

OK So there it is folks!! Im prolly going to do some touch ups, so if I do I will throw some'mo pics up, but VOILA! Toy is done. TO be honest I really didnt htink it was going to take me this long, but last week was mad chaotic and didnt really have time for anything.

AHHH SHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT! All I gotta do is throw up my texture assignment and this BLOG is coming to a close! :P Well, for a few days anyway. EXAMS on TUESDAY!!!!

PROGRESSSS
Here is my man being baked alive. At first I was having some difficulties cause I couldnt get the rack to lower, so he was kind of tall for the oven. He had was literally RIGHT beside the grill, which wasnt too good. Eventually mommie swang by and helped me. (Hah shows you how much I cook LOL) Since he didnt have a lot of meat on his bones, I think it only took about 10 minutes for him to cook up. I was happy he didnt melt, explode or burn! :D Yay..

Next step: Let the bastard cool down.

After he was all nice, I threw a layer of white over him to make it easier for my paints to come through. I figured that they might have turn out nice anyway BUT I wanted to make sure, so whats an extra coat of paint!

Red comes first!

I wanted to start off with the shoes. I dont know why, but they seemed like a pretty decent place to get going. Red Red Red.

I wasnt sure at this point what I was going to do still. But alas, here are the stripes coming into action!

Then the next color! This actually took me the longest to do (paint the pants). My brushes were starting to go wonky and instead of cutting off the ends to make them more even (which I didnt think about til AFTER), I just had to be really, super careful.

The plate in the background is when I consumed Pillsbury Minis :D Delish!

TA DAAAAAAAAAAA!

Here is my skinny, hateful death killing clown! Haha. As you can see, my desk is looking mighty messing and Ive been living in my own filth for the past couple hours but hey, I have no school today so lets get durrrty

This picture is kind of blurry, but if anything you can see the shoes okay. Of course they are oversized as he is a clown and wears big shoes. I havent thought too much into what colors Im going to use for what, BUT obviously, his shoes will be red, and I'll possibly bust out a Ronald McDonald and paint the laces yellow.

Here is a side angle. I still need to smooth the last bit of it out, but I tried to make some wrinkles in his clown pants. I think painting it, and adding in some shading will make those details come together.

Front shot! OK so here is the clown. His head is tilting down, in kind of a twisting way. Im going to paint his actual eyeballs and pupils in, some of going to have to come up with a nice, possessed-looking angle. Should be fun! The meat clever kind of looks like a flag right now, but once I paint it, it should turn out ok.

Im going to get some silver paint and hopefully that will make it pop out some more. Since I havent used acrylics in a long time, this will be another adventure. I got a good tip from Willy, about putting masking tape down so that I can se some nice, fine edges when Im painting, inside of trying to do that by hand. Which will be good because I migggght do some stripes for his paints, BUT Ill have to hand draw it first, since the wrinkles will throw the stripes in crazy wonky ways.

Heres another shot, just with a different angle. Free standing!
And here it is from the back! You can see his ribcage and his pantaloons a bit better. All Im going to do now is touch up a few minor things, smooth it out and he is ready to get baked the fuck alive!!

NOTE: Im a LITTLE worried about baking him, cause I kind of dontknow what to expect or whats going to happen, but we'll see. Theres really not much I can do if it fucks up, so lets keep our fingers crossed folks!! :D Ill report back and tell you how it went!

SEMESTERS ALMOST DONE! :

TOY!!
So here is my clown that I am doing. You can probably see it coming together better now with some detail in. This was all done a bit ago but due to time restrictions and everything else due in the world, I havent gotten around to updated my blog in a few days.

Here you can see how the clown is coming together. Theres virtually no details here. I put in lines for the shoes. It actually wasnt too bad doing that, but what I found tricky was trying to mold or fix something, but with how I would grab it, it would mess up a different part! Some of the places were too narrow and shit, so I couldnt get the surface as smooth as I wanted them too. Im going to try and do some last touches before I bake it to see if I can fix it up a bit.

Heres some details getting underway. The little balls and the shoelaces. Remember, this is an EVIL clown, so Im trying to make him as twisted and weird as possible...Thats why he is so teeny (waist wise).

Black and White shot

Here is a side angle of my man. You can see the rib cage effect im going for.Ive altered it some since this picture but Im not sure how I like it or not...we'll see. I think the paint job will make or break it, who knows.

Ive spent prolly about 6 hours on this so far, most doing which while watching the hockey game (hah) Ill throw up some more details and shit about everything after, but I wanted to show what has been going on as of late. So in total, Ive spend about 6.5 hours but I got a lot more coming.

Things Ive learned though this far...

Trying to mold with fingernails doesnt work out too nicely. Id get something going and then GOUGE a whole chunk outta something else!

Using the hanger was okay, but the WIRE was bommmmb. IT is really the key element to everything goign well with this (at least mine since he has to stand). But yea, as of RIGHT now...all he needs is a hand and a head. There WAS a head made for him but my brother accidently smooshed it, not knowing what it was :( RIP

ALright Im out for now, Peacicles! Updates later, yo

Heres my new guy!
------------------
So I left out the bit of the wire and foil because I went over that process the last time. However, to make it easier for me, I bought bend-able wire from Home Depot (which was like 4 bucks or something cheap) to get a better mold down. It was easier to get the shape I wanted.
Covering him in sccuuuullllppppyyy

Almost done....his feet are a bit off.

Heres another shot.

Theres more progress on it now but ill get back with some more shots. Im just scarfin' down my dinner and then Imma get my mold on, finishing up some shit.

Until next time!
Heres something I found http://www.jaedworks.com/clayspot/ I know we arent working directly with clay, but theres some cool info there. Especially the links @ the bottom --> Check 'em out. Because I already worked with sculpting before, I wasnt researching into it too much, cause I kind of new what to expect. I WAS curious though to see what else other people had done too...I tried to pull up some cool pics..but they werent uploading onto here. :S

I thought this was pretty cool. Its a bit bigger, so a little bit easier to get the detail but still wow!

I know I have been slightly lacking with the blog, But heres the updates. This was the first man that I made.

This was the coat hanger. Let metell you how awful this was to bend around. Now, to the untrained eye..it appears as if I am cutting it ...but FACT: Mommie had to cut it cause I wasnt strong enough. :(
Step 2: Cover this coat hanger with some foil to minimize the amount of sculpey I would have to use. See, the foil didnt stick on that well and I kinda just clumped it together. I think thats where I first went wrong. Because it was just foil onto hanger, it wasnt holding and kept slipping. I decided to keep going with it though.

So here he was with putty on 'em. It was going ojkay but because the wire hanger didnt bend well,it was almost impossible for me to get a good frame going. The more and more I tried to get him to stand on his own , the less successful I was becoming. It got to a point when i looked at it, and was like...damn, this isnt going to work.

The clay ended up back in the box, and I threwmy foil mold in the garbage. This was last weekend...

I knew that if I were to continue doign this man, it wasnt going to turn out well at all and then I would be out of sculpy and a decent project so it was back to the drawing board.
